Eczema Relief For Babies And Toddlers

By on November 5, 2017

Hi Everyone!

If you have been following along for a while, then you already know I spend a good amount of time trying to help Lila fight eczema. We have tried so many different things to help her skin get back to normal over the years and I have definitely learned a few things that do the trick. Recently she had a terrible flair up and it really had me evaluate all the products we were using once again. Below are a few tips that have worked for me and our daily routine for keeping the eczema to a minimum.

Eczema Relief For Babies And Toddlers

  1. Bathe Daily with non-scented products. I am a super fan of this No Fragrance Super Sensitive Bubble Bath. You only need a tiny bit to create a wonderland of bubbles. It’s pretty magical! Bath Drops are good for adding moisture to the bath. Just a drop or two will do the trick.
  2. Before Drying Off After Bath time I mix in the palm of my hand about a quarter size of No Fragrance Super Sensitive Body Oil and a quarter size of No Fragrance Super Sensitive Cream. With that I give my little lady a massage in all of her eczema prone areas. The body oil really adds a lot of moisture to her skin, I can notice a difference if I don’t add it in.
  3. It Is Best To Dress her in long sleeve and pant pajamas so that her whole body is covered and the moisture stays locked in. (Also make sure your laundry detergent is fragrance free and plant based. It took me a long time to figure out that our detergent was irritating my poor baby’s skin.)
  4. Don’t Be Afraid to ask your doctor for a prescription for eczema. We had to do this recently after a big flair up and it helped significantly. Her entire flair up was completely gone in 2-3 days, after I had tried home remedies for about a week on my own. I now can also use the prescription for spot treatment when I need it, but do not use it often. The skin with eczema is already thin and irritated that putting medicine on it isn’t the best way to get rid of it. You really want to baby the skin and pack it with moisture.
  5. Add Cream 1-2 More Times throughout the day. During diaper changes or outfit changes I will always spot treat her problem areas with cream. In my diaper bag I keep a travel size cream so that I can dab some on when we are out and about. I notice a huge difference in her skin and her overall happiness (less scratching and less irritation) when I spot treat on the go or at home.
  6. Remember To Relax. Most eczema cases disappear over time. I find myself stressing out all the time over her red patches, but it is actually very common in babies and toddlers. I have to remind myself to slow down, stay calm, and if I need to feel in control of the situation to just apply some cream. 🙂

I really do believe that having the right routine and finding the right products can make a huge difference. So much so that I have fully committed to this, No Fragrance Super Sensitive Line. A few of their products even come in gallons and half gallons, so you can save big bucks when shopping for the good stuff. We use this shampoo/bodywash and buying one gallon is equilvilant to buying like 15 bottles. Talk about saving a trip to the store! I find myself using it too because the pump on it is easier than my own body wash and I think it’s good to use the same soap as her since we are always in close contact. I also share the same detergent as her for the same reason.

I hope this helps someone else that is eczema prone. If you have any questions please leave them in the comments and I will make sure to answer them.

XO,

Celeste Wright

Thirty Days Of Books: A New November Tradition

By on November 3, 2017

A Year Of Books Blundle from Incredibundles

Hi Friends! It’s November. Can you even believe it? The first week of November is my favorite time of year because all the spooky halloween decor goes down and in the blink of an eye there are Christmas trees everywhere! I mean, what is more magical than walking around and seeing everything lit up for the holidays. I love love love it and wait patiently for it all year.

This year is extra special because Lila is in full on kid mode and is ready to take in all the magic the holidays have to offer. Her bookshelf was looking like it could use some love, and I think it’s impossible to feel guilty over buying new books. So for the month of November, we are reading one new book together everyday. I found this amazing bundle of books from Incredibundles and it was perfect for what I wanted to do. The books also came in this adorable reusable storage box. Perfect for organizing, but even more perfect for what I wanted to use it for. I keep all of the books in the box and we open it together, and she gets to pick one out. We read it together, we talk about it, we talk about Thanksgiving and why this month is special, we read the book like ten more times, and then she gets to pick a spot for it on her bookshelf. Fun, right?

It’s only been 3 days and I am already having a blast with it. The first book we opened was Ten Tiny Toes and it’s her new favorite. She wants to read all the time and if we are in the car she’ll just start saying the words from the book. I love it so much! I hope to make this a tradition we do every year.

I chose the A Year Of Books Blundle since it came with 30 books and November has 30 days. You can see all the books it includes in the image below. There is also tons more to check out on their site besides books, I’m obsessed!

To kick off the holidays I am giving away a $50 shop credit to Incredibundles! Entering is easy. Just head to my Instagram, here to enter.

Thanks for reading!

XO

Flashcards Are Fun

By on October 17, 2017

123 LEARNING BOOK | ABC FLASH CARDS | KID’S TABLE AND CHAIRS

Hi Everyone!
Everyday for about 20-30 minutes I attempt an educational activity with Lila. Her favorite activity hands down is flashcards. She has a few different sets but I am always looking for something new for her. I found these cute ones from Stuck On You and was sold when I saw that you could personalize them. I customized her name on the cards/card carrier and picked out the pink option. She loves them so much and they are the perfect size to throw in the diaper bag. I will be taking these everywhere from now on.
Since I was already getting the flashcards I also added to my cart a learning book. I thought it would be a good thing to have to take a restaurant or have saved for a rainy day. The book is super cute and it has already gotten a lot of love from Lila. Stuck On You also has other activities, personalized books, bags, lunch boxes, drink bottles, stationery, bag tags and tons of other options.
I hope you enjoyed my latest find!
Warmly,
Celeste Wright

Lila’s Montessori Floor Bed / House Bed

By on October 10, 2017

Housebed from: Sweet Home From Wood

Mattress + Sheets + Drapes from: Tomorrow

Lila’s Tutu from: Plum NYC

Hi Everyone!

A few weeks ago I shared with you that we decided to add a bed to Lila’s room and it has been working out great. She absolutely loves her bed and tells me thank you everyday. It’s one of the sweetest things hearing her run into her room in the mornings and yell, “Mom! Mom, I just love my bed!” (my heart melts.)

This AMAZING house bed is from Sweet Home From Wood and I cannot say enough good things about it! She is basically a house bed fairy and has something for everyone. The photos on her site are so darling. I wish I could visit every room featured!

We just got it in the mail yesterday afternoon. I built it by myself and it took about thirty minutes. It was super easy to build, but I also had a tiny cheerleader that wanted it built immediately. The decor shown isn’t permanent. It’s just what I already had in her room. I will be decorating a bit over the next week or so and then giving a grand tour.

Thanks for reading and if you have any questions be sure to leave them in the comments below so I can answer. XO

Warmly,

Celeste

Montessori Floor Bed Using Tomorrow Sleep

By on September 27, 2017

Hi Everyone!

Something that has always been missing from Lila’s room is a bed. She has coslept with me since the day she was born, so we never really needed a crib for her. When she was about a year and a half old I transformed our second bedroom from an office to a playroom. It was a really fun project and I loved being able to give her a room of her very own. I also loved that all of her toys were in one place it made it easier to  keep chaos out of the living room.

Even though she didn’t have a bed, she had a DockATot laying on the floor for her to use if she wanted to read books in it or lay down on. What she really loved to do was get a blanket and tuck in her babies like they were going to sleep. It was really sweet. It’s been over a year since we have had this set up and it seems like she has outgrown it. The opportunity came up to get her a bed and it could’t have come at a more perfect time.

I knew I wanted her to have a floor bed because I have always loved the idea of it. It is also a common Montessori practice, and I try to incorporate Montessori as much as possible in our home. I am so excited to share with you her bed frame! I probably won’t have it set up until the end of the month so stay tuned for that.

Today I want to focus on sharing with you why we chose Tomorrow Sleep. Below I have highlighted all of the special reasons we love their sleep system. If  you have any questions please leave me a comment and I’ll answer it best I can. There is also a MAJOR coupon code for you, so scroll to the bottom to grab it.

Mattress: We ordered a twin sized, medium firm, hybrid mattressThe hybrid construction combines cooling high-density memory foam with a breathable, supportive coil system in the perfect balance of cool comfort and support for real, restorative sleep. All the foams in the Tomorrow Sleep mattress have environmental certifications that ensure they are safe and non-toxic. Our polyurethane foams (memory foam, transition foam, and poly support foam) are CertiPUR certified. Designed and made in the USA. Other major perks are a 100 day trial, free 2-3 day shipping, and a 10-year limited warranty. You can get $100 off any mattress with code:

Mattress Protector:A mattress protector was a must have item for me. Water spills, potty accidents, and anything else in between. This is waterproof shield you can’t feel and guards from spills and dirt. It’s basically the best insurance policy for your mattress, whether it’s for your toddler or you.

Monitor:The sleeptracker monitor is something we are not going to use for quite a while, but it’s so awesome that I have to share it with you. The Sleeptracker Monitor analyzes your sleep cycles, breathing rate, heart rate and movement to offer personalized suggestions for better sleep. It monitors whether you are in light sleep, deep sleep or REM, and knows how much time you spend in each stage. Then it will offer feedback and tips to help you progress each night. Crazy cool, right?

Drapes: Blackout drapes need to be on every single baby registry. How are they not? We have only had them for a few weeks and I already can’t live without them. These are designed to blackout 90% of light from your sleeping area. They also help control the temperature in your space, keeping out extreme cold and heat making a perfect climate that’s essential to restorative sleep. Shown in photos: two drapes in color linen.

Pillows: Since I still nurse her to sleep I got two pillows. One for me and one for her. For me I chose the memory foam pillow, it’s a two sided memory foam bed pillow that is designed to feel cool on one side and cozy on the other. I am always so uncomfortable when I stand up after getting her to sleep, but this pillow has relieved so much discomfort that I am used to feeling. For Lila I went with the Plush Pillow. Boy does the name fit this pillow because it is  p l u s h. It is designed for cushy comfort and is a hypoallergenic. It’s the perfect option for all types of sleepers, it has a silky soft sateen surface, and is more dense than down for added neck support. Certified by the Allergy & Asthma Foundation of America.

Sheets & Comforter: Tomorrow Sleep’s Sheet Set is made of 100% USA grown Supima cotton and is a luxurious 500 thread count. It has a super soft feel and get be beat when it comes to touch. The sheets are super breathable and have a light crisp feel. Tomorrow Sleep’s Comforter is an all-season lofty comforter designed to help keep you at just the right temperature as you sleep. It’s a 300 thread count surface and down-alternative filling come together in an evenly plush quilt.

I was so excited to get this in Lila’s room and set up for her. The first day I tried to put her down for a nap (and she never naps!) and it was a miracle that she did. It was the best thing ever. She was all tucked in and looked like such a big girl. She slept for about two hours and I was too busy sneaking snacks and happy dancing to actually get anything productive done. Haha. It has been so fun to see her love her new bed. She literally never wants to leave her room anymore.

I hope everyone has a great week and here is the coupon code again in case you missed it: You can get $100 off any mattress with code:

Warmly,

Celeste Wright

Benefits Of Baby Wearing

By on August 29, 2017

Lila’s Shoes // Baby Tula Toddler Carrier

Hi Everyone!

It is no secret that I love baby wearing. I have been wearing Lila since she was a newborn and I can attribute much of our bond to it. We have tried out a lot of different carriers together in our two and half years of baby wearing from frontward facing only carriers to multi facing carriers to wraps to slings and everything in between. Right now Lila weighs about 30 pounds and was having less and less space in our old carrier. We switched to Tula Baby a few months ago using one of their Free To Grow Carriers. The first time I put it on Lila fell asleep within minutes and had a nice long two hour nap in it. I love having Lila nap in the carrier because that means I can get stuff done while knowing that my baby is safe and sound.

“A Child Does Not Know What Direction He Is Going, But When He Is Attached To You, He Doesn’t Feel Lost.” -Gordon Neufeld

I recently came across this quote and it really stuck with me how true that feels. When I am holding her close she has such a calm to her that she doesn’t have at any other time.

I always knew baby wearing was for me, because it was in my mama bear gut. It always felt right for me and Lila as a baby was instantly calm if she was put in a carrier. After doing some research I came to learn that there really are some amazing benefits other than just that warm and fuzzy feeling of having your little one close to you.

1. Less Crying

Did you know that babies that are carried cry 43% less than babies that are not carried. And in the evening hours that number jumps to 54% – Don’t these numbers make you want to run and put your baby in a carrier? No one likes to hear their baby cry.

2. Breastfeeding

This is a big one for us. Lila always will breastfeed if she is the carrier and the best part is that she can breastfeed practically anywhere. She always hated doing that whole hiding her a blanket thing, so instead I would put her in the carrier and pop the hood over her. If there is one thing I couldn’t imagine my life as a mom without it’s breastfeeding the in the carrier.

3. Handsfree Mommin’

Whether they are asleep or not you can do anything you need to do handsfree. When Lila was little she would let me do anything as long as she was being carried. The best part is when she fell asleep and I could do anything I needed to do leaving me feeling productive and leaving her feeling cozy sleeping through it all.

4. Bonding

According to research worn babies are given a sense of security and affection. This helps to improve their neurological development. When worn babies are in tune to your heart rate, breathing, and your movements. This encourages baby and actually helps their nervous system function and keep organized.

5. Getting Exercise

Babies start small but then they get heavy! Carrying around that weight is a great workout for mom. It makes a walk around the block way more rewarding when you can come home and treat yourself to something yummy for all those extra calories you burned!

6. Easier Communication

With your little one right there in front of you, you will know almost instantly if something is wrong or if they are bothered. You are also able to comfort them at a moments notice.

Those are just a few of the reasons I LOVE baby wearing. I will continue to wear Lila until I can’t fit her in a carrier anymore. And just thinking that makes me so sad! I will always treasure these years we have had together where I felt like she was my extra limb.

Thanks for reading and let me know in the comments if you baby wear or plan to with your baby! 🙂

And We’re Off… To Bed!

By on August 25, 2017

Pajamas // Towel // Blanket // Washcloth // Cream // Powder // Diapers

Hi Everyone!

Have you noticed the days have been getting shorter? I sure have. Lila goes to sleep when the sun does, regardless of what the clock says and this we she has been turning in on the early side. Naps are a thing of the past, so to wind down the day it’s off to bath time right after dinner.

We have a new bath time routine which I will share next, and so far it’s been working out great. When bath time is over I scoop her out of the bath and get right into the bedroom. While she is still in her towel (which by the way this one is adorable and amazing) I start a movie on the tv. It’s almost always Moana, or if we are speeding things up it’s just one episode of Veggie Tales. While the movie starts I’ll give her a massage with my favorite cream, powder up the diaper area, diaper her up, and slip on her jammies. When her jammies are on I’ll brush her teeth which lately has turned into her trying to bite me, but I always win and get those teeth brushed. Last step is “lips” which Lila loves to put on and will ask for it as soon as her shirt goes over her head.

While she gets the wiggles out and jumps around like a monkey, always singing along with Moana I will tidy up the floor a bit and hang up het towel. Then I’ll get in bed with her, put her in the dock a tot with 2 blankets and nurse her until she falls asleep. We definitely have our bedtime routine down which I wanted to create ever since she stopped napping.

So that’s us! Now tell me what do you do to get that baby to bed? Till next time.

Lila’s: SHIRT // SHOES // BACKPACK

Hi Everyone!

In my last post I mentioned that Lila has been obsessed with carrying around a backpack and well… that hasn’t changed. Haha. Last night Hubs and I went out for anniversary and left Lila with my parents. My mom is so generous and is always shopping for her grandkids. She loves to spoil them with a bag of clothes/toys every time she sees them. It is super sweet and makes those first moments with my parents even more special since they get to open a present. This gem of a skirt was in her bag last night and I couldn’t stop smiling when I saw all the kitty cats. Lila thinks it’s the best thing ever so she might never take it off.

Hubs and I had a great time on our date and I woke up feeling refreshed and recharged. We had a great morning together and she kept mentioning all the chocolates my mom let her eat last night. I giggle every time she tells me about it. Also, if you are looking for a back to school backpack this leopard one is a seriously great choice. It is just so perfect for a little toddler and can hold so much. I linked it under the last photo if you want to check it out. I hope everyone has a great afternoon!
