Of all the Christmas gifts Lila received this year, this pink car is hands down her favorite. Whenever she sees one when we are out and about her eyes light up with excitement. I knew I had to get her one and her reaction Christmas morning did not disappoint. Jake assembled it after she fell asleep on Christmas eve and we had it waiting for her in front of the tree with a big red bow. When we woke up Christmas morning and she saw the car she said, “Oh, oh, wow! A car!” She was so sweet and walked across the room so slow with her eyes locked on the car. She finally hopped in and sat in the car and immediately started chirping, “Beep beep! Honk honk!” and spinning the wheel around like she was driving. She looked up at us with the biggest smile and Jake and I were SO happy that she loved it.
We took it for a spin around the block and I have to say I was amazed by how easy it was to maneuver. I’m a little spoiled with our jogging stroller, so whenever I have to push another stroller I am usually disappointed and struggling to make turns. Not with this car though. All you have to do is put a little pressure forcing the back wheels down and the car glides left or right with total ease. The best part is how happy Lila is when she is being pushed. She wears the biggest smile on her face and I feel like she is seeing the world with new eyes.
For the time being this pink car has replaced the stroller in the trunk of the car. We have already taken it to run a few errands and it has been a lifesaver! Instead of distracting Lila with snacks or songs, she is more than happy to just be sitting in her new pink car. I hope she stays this happy in it forever.
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. What was your favorite gift you got this year?
*Thank you to Step2 for gifting me this item as part of the Step2 toy tester program.
We have lived ridiculously close to the Santa Anita Race Track for a year now and every time Jake and I drive by it in the car we talk about going to a race one day. Today was opening day for this season’s races so Jake surprised us with tickets and we were off to the races.
Lila fell asleep for her nap right when got there so for the first hour we explored all around the race track. It felt like we were transported to another era. There was an underground hall packed with people that looked like they have been coming here since they were children. Since it was my first time I didn’t know what to expect, but I saw very quickly this was a huge part of a lot of peoples lives.
Our tickets allowed access to the family zone which had a giant playground for children to play, a few different bounce houses, and even horsie rides. The whole time we were walking through it I was so bummed Lila was missing all the fun. When she did wake up we took seats in the shade and let her watch the horses run by. She was cheering them on saying, “Go horsie!” It was so cute. When we first came in I got her a giant stuffed animal horse because I knew if she woke up to that she would love it and sure enough her reaction did not disappoint.
When it was time to go I busted out my new favorite must have with baby, a ring sling. We got this one from Wildbird and each time I use it I wonder how I haven’t used it sooner on my baby wearing journey. This one is a single layer ring sling made from 55% linen and %45 Cotton. It’s completely adjustable and carries newborns to toddlers. I chose the Linen fabric because linen is made from flax, one of the strongest natural fibers. Linen is also the most suitable fabric for hot temperature because of it’s cooling and refreshing effect. They offer a few different fabrics so no matter your preference or climate there’s a sling for you.
My favorite part of this new must have is how easy it is to transport. It easily wraps up and fits inside my diaper bag so well that I sometimes forget it is there. I still love our baby carrier and owe all of my handsfree naps to it, but now that Lila likes to walk on her own when we are out it is nice having a way to wear her without carrying a bulky carrier.
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend!
This morning we took family photos with the lovely Sadaf Murad in Old Town Pasadena and I am so excited to see how they turned out. I was talking with Sadaf a few weeks ago about how we have no professional photos of our family, and she offered to help us change that. I was so excited about finally being able to have precious photos to look back on. Every image from the shoot will be treasured so hard and definitely framed and hung on our walls immediately.
It’s kind of funny to us that we never had professional photos taken because we know a ton of photographers and could have easily had some done by now. A photographer friend of ours did our wedding photos which I was so excited about her doing but we stilllllll don’t have them. So maybe I’m just scared from that.
We were going to do our session walking around Old Town Pasadena because this where I think of when I think of “home” and I wanted our first family photos to capture where we were at this point in our lives. We ended up doing them inside her gorgeous studio because it was around noon once we were all situated and and Lila was super cranky and ready for her nap. So we stayed in her studio which is about a block away from where we took these photos after. Lila loves the courtyard in One Colorado and it’s the perfect place to let her stretch her legs. It also has the best public restroom in Old Town, which is one of toughest things to find here.
Something I never, ever want to forget is our time living here. In ten years we might still live here or in ten years I will be looking back at these photos remembering all the good times.
